How is the text message function typically used by schools?

In most cases it is used to notify parents about something important that needs the immediacy of text messaging, or to tell parents that can’t receive emails (i.e. emails are deliverable or don’t they don’t have one) about something that they would have received an email about. 

One function that some schools use it for is to get parents that don’t have working emails in the system to provide one. Though they can’t login, you can direct them to complete the form at Contact Form with their name and email address, and one of you can update the profile with it. The contents of that form are emailed to all people listed as ClassroomParent Admins
