A club is a special kind of group built for extracurricular activities that meet on a regular basis, such as chess club, drama, or a running club. It does everything a regular group does — a member list, messages, text messages, events, materials, and volunteer sign-ups — and adds a meeting schedule, an automatically generated meeting calendar, and attendance tracking for each meeting.
Because a club is a group under the hood, anything you already know about groups applies: you can make a club private, target it at particular grades, set a maximum size, and add members individually or in bulk by class or grade.
Clubs have their own Clubs area in the navigation, separate from Groups. The Clubs list is organized so that leaders and families can quickly see the clubs they run, the clubs they (or their children) belong to, and the other clubs at the school. Each club row shows its meeting schedule at a glance.
Use a group when you just need a list of people to communicate with. Use a club when the activity has recurring meetings you want to put on a calendar and take attendance for.
